Tribune staff report | Horace Mann Educators Corp. today reported a 3 percent drop in net income to $22.2 million its fourth quarter, from $22.9 million in the same period a year ago, beating expectations.
For the previous 12 months, the Springfield-based company’s profit
more than improved more than six-fold to $73.5 million, or $1.81 per
share, compared and $10.9 million for the same periods in 2008.
Total revenues for the quarter rose to $235.9 million from $221.1 million in the prior year quarter.
Shares in Horace Mann rose 2.78 percent to close at $11.82 in trading on the New York Stock Exchange Monday.
